Lessons from Jon Barron Detox In Summary In this week's excerpt from Lessons from the Miracle Doctors, Jon Barron concludes his discussion of detoxing, by summarizing all of the components required for whole body cleansing – and how often you need to do them. "The Liver/GallBladder Flush: - Liver/gallbladder flush. A liver/gallbladder flush twice a year (more often if you are ill) to eliminate any accumulation of liver fat, toxins, and incipient gallstones is mandatory.
- Liver-rebuilding tonic. In addition to flushing, you need to regularly partake of a liver-rebuilding formula. Herbs such as milk thistle, which are usually found in these formulas, stimulate the liver to rebuild itself. Picrorrhiza kurroa, another herb frequently used, is probably an even stronger liver protector and rebuilder. And herbs such as dandelion root, barberry, artichoke, and beet leaf are lipotropics that help clean fat out of the liver.
- Regular consumption of fresh apple/beet juice is profoundly beneficial to the liver. Start with small servings and build slowly to avoid uncomfortable detox reactions.
Note: Never do a liver cleanse without first cleaning out the colon to provide an outlet for the toxins released by the liver. And again, it is also highly recommended that you do a kidney flush program that incorporates herbs such as Chanca piedra and gravel root to soften any gallstones before doing the liver detox. Kidneys If you have access to a full kidney cleanse formula, then by all means use it. If it's in a liquid form, mix it with a quart of diluted apple juice and drink a pint a day for four days. Do this every two to three months to keep your kidneys free flowing. And remember, a good kidney formula not only helps cleanse and rebuild the kidneys, it is also tonic for the gallbladder and pancreas. Blood - Cleansing. Go on an herbal cleansing of the blood 2–4 times a year (even more often if you are ill).
- Oral chelation. Use a cilantro/chlorella tincture: start with a six-week detox, then twice a year after that do a two-week detox. As an alternative, you can use a good EDTA-based oral formula.
- Alkalinize or die. Cut way back on acid-producing foods such as meat, dairy, sugar, soda, refined grains, etc., and add alkalinizing foods such as chlorella and fresh vegetables to your diet. Drink water that has been magnetized, use micronized water, or add alkalinizing drops to your water to raise pH.
- One final thought on pH: it makes sense to test the pH of your saliva on a regular basis as a touchstone for your overall health. You can pick up pH paper specifically designed for this purpose at most health food stores. Make sure you test in the morning before brushing or eating as these things can temporarily alter the pH in your mouth. Just spit out a couple of times into the sink, then onto the pH paper. Ideally, your pH should be about 7.45. If it tests below 7.0, you should get aggressive in terms of alkalinizing your body."
