Lessons from Jon Barron
Four Diet Problem Areas

In this week's excerpt from Lessons from the Miracle Doctors, Jon Barron identifies the four problem areas in optimizing your diet.

Daily Health Tip Image"Eliminating bad fats from your diet makes all the sense in the world. Cutting refined carbohydrates and minimizing high-glycemic grains and starchy vegetables is also a healthy thing to do. Eating enough of the right kinds of proteins is important, as is eating high-quality food grown to produce the maximum nutritional value. It all makes sense, but this simple advice has become lost. Quite simply, we are once again being seduced by our love of broad-stroke generalizations. Let's go into a little detail and see what the real story is.

Once you've cleaned out and repaired your food processing and waste removal systems through detoxing, you're ready to begin the process of rebuilding your body. Keep in mind that your body is rebuilding itself all the time. The actual life cycle of a blood cell, for example, is approximately four months. That means you replace your entire blood supply every 120 days. The question is: what will determine the quality of that blood? What are you going to be building that new blood from—fast-food burgers and fries? Understand, it's not only your blood, but every cell and organ in your body that's being replaced. For the most part, you get an entirely new body every seven years. It doesn't take a genius to realize that the better your nutrition, the better the "quality" of your new body.

Unfortunately, it's not quite that simple. Any attempt to optimize the nutrition we take into our bodies must address four key problem areas:

  • Plastic fats
  • Refined carbohydrates
  • Bad proteins
  • Frankenfoods"
