In this week's excerpt from Lessons from the Miracle Doctors, Jon Barron previously discussed what makes the body more acidic and what makes it more alkaline; now, he tells us how to balance out those extremes.

Daily Health Tip Image"Change your diet so that you consume lower levels of acid-forming foods and increase levels of alkaline-forming ones. That is, cut back on meat, dairy, sugar, alcohol, and refined grains; consume more fresh vegetables, fruits, and superfoods such as chlorella, wheat grass, barley grass, and spirulina.

In addition, there are several special alkalinizing agents available. Your health food store should have alkalinizing teas or drops available. Coral calcium can help. And there are machines that will "micronize" your water—that is, take your tap water and divide it in two. One stream is acidic and can be used for washing and cleaning; the other stream is alkaline and is used for drinking. Unfortunately, these machines are rather expensive—about $1,000.

Another alternative is to simply magnetize your water. Applying a magnetic field to a pitcher of water for a short period of time can help raise the pH of the water a half point or more, depending on its mineral content. It also offers the added advantage of lessening the surface tension of the water, which makes the water more usable by the cells of your body. Water ionizing machines offer a more expensive--but also a more powerful--alternative."
