The Elements of Blood Cleansing

In this week's excerpt from Lessons from the Miracle Doctors, Jon Barron Barron examines the elements of blood cleansing.

Daily Health Tip Image"Blood is one of the most complex organs in the human body. Just understanding the cascade of clotting mechanisms in the blood requires up to a full year in medical school. But in simple terms, blood has three primary functions:

  1. It transports things into, around, and out of the body. That includes gases such as oxygen and carbon dioxide as well as nutrients and cellular waste.
  2. It protects the body from bacteria, viruses, and malignant cells by virtue of the white blood cells that function as part of the immune system.
  3. It balances the body, including balancing electrolytes, hydration, blood sugar, and so on.

Blood cleansing is required to repair the damage we do to our blood through improper diet and exposure to environmental toxins, not to mention exposure to various pathogens. When used regularly, a good blood cleansing formula works to purify and optimize your blood, cleanse your liver, kill viruses, balance blood sugar, and, of course, drive "malignant spirits" from your body. It should be noted that human blood is antiseptic—under normal circumstances. In other words, it does not tolerate the presence of pathogens. It is for this reason that many doctors say that blood cleansing is nonsense since bacteria and viruses can't exist in human blood. Unfortunately, that's a bit naïve. As we know, human existence rarely adheres to "normal" circumstances. The fact is that viruses and bacteria frequently survive in human blood, everything from AIDS to HPV to bacteria implicated in arthritis and Crohn's disease. If you want to be healthy, they must be cleansed.

There are several ways to cleanse your blood. One of the most effective is to use systemic proteolytic enzymes between meals and/or before bed (see Chapter 11). Within a matter of minutes, the enzymes enter the bloodstream and begin cleaning the protein-based detritus out of your blood and stimulating the immune cells to consume circulating immune complexes (CICs) in your blood. CICs are large protein molecules that are only partially digested in the small intestine but are nevertheless absorbed into the blood. They can cause allergic reactions and other problems in the body. Ridding the blood of CICs can make a significant improvement in your overall health rather quickly.

What we're talking about here, though, is something different—using herbal blood cleansers to remove toxic residues so that your blood and body resist bacteria, viruses, and cancer. The great blood-cleansing herbs are chaparral, red clover (Trifolium pratense), burdock root (Arctium lappa), poke root (Phytolacca decandra), yellow dock root, bloodroot (Sanguinaria candensis), Oregon grape root, mistletoe, goldenseal root, cat's claw, sheep sorrel, and cayenne. These are the herbs you will find in the famous blood-cleansing formulas such as the Hoxsey formula, Essiac Tea, the Dr. Christopher and Dr. Schulze formulas, and my own version of the formula. These formulas can "drive" bad things out of your body or prevent them from entering in the first place.

First of all, though, the designation "blood cleanser" is a euphemism. In fact, this formula (along with every herb in it) is considered by herbalists to be anti-cancer. Variations of this formula have been used for hundreds of years by Native American tribes. The fact that we can't talk openly about the anti-cancer property of herbs and herbal formulas is probably the most political topic in alternative health today. Not surprisingly, many of the individual herbs in these formulas are on the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) cautionary list, and virtually all of them are on the equivalent Canadian list. You will also find numbers of these herbs on the precautionary lists of European countries such as Switzerland and Germany, and even Australia, for that matter.

Although many people use blood-cleansing formulas as part of their semiannual liver and gallbladder flush, they should be considered in their own right as important formulas to be used in maintaining optimal health and optimizing the immune system. If well designed using high-quality herbs, they can have powerful and extremely fast acting anti-pathogenic properties."
